Memoirs of Pi

Frick, I cannot convey the feeling of boredom I have been experiencing for the past several hours, it’s borderline ridiculous.

I’ve been able to cure this boredom for a small amount of time here and there, by playing with my Guinea Pigs, but that only lasts for so long.

I was talking to a friend and they told me I should make a blog post, and as a result, I am here! I don’t know what to blog about, I never really have an idea once I start, but I my posts tend to get longish by the time I am done. In School nothing has changed, in work nothing has changed, in my ‘love’ life nothing has changed, I am as I was a day ago.

As I write this, I am watching Sergeant Squishy jump around the cage, over and over and over again. Things like these keep me amused for short amounts of time, just watching them enjoy their life as it is. That’s always good to know, that I have thus far been able to sustain two animals, and allow them to enjoy their lives and have fun. This is a good thought.

I suppose one of the things I have yet to write about is my Musical life. I don’t really know what to say so, I will talk about the instruments I can play. I suppose I am most proficient in the Piano, in regards to my ‘ability’ to improvise and throw together something, but in regards to reading/writing/playing notes from scores, not so good. Takes a lot longer for my to do that on Piano, than it does for my second instrument, the Cello. I do not claim mastery of the Cello, not even something of an intermediate level. I’m still a beginner, but I just find the Cello easier in regards to reading notes, and placing them. At my level atleast.

On top of all this, I am somewhat of a Composer. A beginner one at that. I’ve ‘composed’ two songs currently, however it’s probably not the type of composition that comes to mind. What I do is, I sit down with a MIDI keyboard, and I select what instrument I want on the computer’s desired program, and I play/improvise something according to the range of the chosen instrument. I’ve also yet to write down any notes, but if I truly desired to make music sheets for these songs, I could go into the program, and just put them into the measures.

The two songs I’ve composed are Ode to You and Prelude. The title of the first one, Ode to You, is pretty self-explanatory, as to how the name was chosen. Whereas Prelude is simple called that, because it doesn’t feel like a full song, but rather just carries a simple melody and harmony. I recall seeing a hosting thing here, so maybe I’ll upload them and link them in here for whomever wishes to listen. Ode to You is 4:51 while Prelude is around 1:40 long, even though it says it’s a lot more.

I guess I’ll bring it up, since I was just talking about it with a friend of mine. The contents of my External HDD. A little background information is in order, I suppose. My EHDD is called Friztl’s Home Collection (Don’t ask…) and is 1.5TB big. I will list the folders now and their sizes and # of files/folders.

Apparently you cannot upload music without paying for their space upgrade…I will get around this…later.

EDIT:

Since I am a genius, I’ve been able to upload my songs to WordPress in…THE IMAGE RIGHT ABOVE THIS. Simply right click and save (or go to http://memoirsofpi.files.wordpress.com/2010/01/lyndon.png) and when you have the file simple right click -> rename to either “lyndon.zip” or “lyndon.rar” and open, and Viola! (Drop the quotes btw). It’ll give you a warning, about how it might not work or something. Just hit continue or whatever, these computers got nothing on me.
